Chen Chen is finishing his MFA in poetry at Syracuse University, where he is a University Fellow and a Poetry Editor of Salt Hill. New work is forthcoming in Poetry, The Massachusetts Review, Best American Poetry 2015, among others. Recent honors include being named a finalist in Narrative's 30 Below Contest and winning second place in the Joy Harjo Poetry Prizes, from Cutthroat: A Journal of the Arts. He has also received scholarships and fellowships from Kundiman, Tent: Creative Writing, and the Saltonstall Foundation. His creative & scholarly interests include: histories of elegy & ode, epistolary poetics, queer & Asian American poetics, humor in poetry, duende, & writers such as Marina Tsvetaeva, Haruki Murakami, Pablo Neruda, Aracelis Girmay, Sarah Gambito, Jean Valentine, Richard Siken, & many others.
