The first Poet Laureate of Springfield, MA (2014-2016) and 2016 NEPR Arts + Humanities Award recipient, multilingual Puerto Rican poet María Luisa Arroyo enjoys facilitating engaging poetry workshops, from ekphrastic ones at the annual Monson (MA) Arts Festival to narrative ones at the Split This Rock Poetry Festival (DC). Additionally, María Luisa has read and performed her poetry at numerous venues, including in Washington, DC; Chicago, IL; and Puerto Rico. Her poems have been published widely, including WomenArts Quarterly; CALYX: A Journal of Art and Literature by Women; PALABRA: A Magazine of Chicano and Latino Literary Art; and The Más Tequila Review. A 2015 Solstice MFA graduate of Pine Manor College, María Luisa has one full-length collection, Gathering Words: Recogiendo Palabras (Bilingual Review Press: 2008) and one chapbook, Flight (Thousand Hands Press: 2016). At Bay Path University, she is Assistant Professor of Writing and First-Year Studies.
